Hello and welcome to my collection of work inspired by nature and nostalgia.
I paint because I love it, I love telling stories with colours, and detailing emotions and feelings with texture, layers and the strokes of a brush.
My painting is an expression of a feeling I get when looking at a subject. There is a large part of me that has a fascination and deep emotional connection to memories and nostalgia and at times this can feel quite overwhelming. With this feeling, I can step away from small details of an image and work with the marks my brushes and paint make to capture it's essence. The process from start to finish is often an emotional one and when I feel that, I know I'm on the right track.
I spend my time working in our studio garage with two toddlers at my feet, (that's a joke - I can't paint with toddlers.. they're cute, disruptive and they're at daycare), usually a coffee or glass of wine in my hand and some Motown or Chisel blasting away.
While the Northern Beaches of Sydney is home, a chunk of my heart is in the bush. This contradiction is no more evident than in my paintings. Beaches, bulls, people, parrots and landscapes. I'm not sure that I'll ever be able to stick to one subject matter. There is just way too much to explore.
